Scientific institutions across Bengaluru are marking National Science Day (NSD) 2025 with open-house events, allowing visitors to experience science exhibits, live experiments, and interactive sessions.
Observed annually on February 28, NSD honors the groundbreaking discovery of the Raman Effect by Sir C. V. Raman. This year’s theme, set by the Department of Science and Technology, is ‘Empowering Indian Youth for Global Leadership in Science and Innovation for Viksit Bharat’.
At RRI
The Raman Research Institute (RRI) will welcome the public from 10 AM to 4 PM on Friday. Attendees can witness fascinating scientific demonstrations, hands-on experiments, and interact with RRI scientists while exploring the institute’s legacy.
At IISc
The Indian Institute of Science (IISc) will hold its Open Day on Saturday, coinciding with NSD and the birth anniversary of its founder, JN Tata (March 3). The event runs from 9 AM to 5 PM, featuring scientific exhibits, discussions, lectures, quizzes, and competitions. E-rickshaws and help desks will be available for convenience, though visitors are advised to be cautious due to ongoing construction.
At IIA
The Indian Institute of Astrophysics (IIA) will host its Open Day on Sunday from 9:30 AM to 5:30 PM. The event will include astronomy talks, scientific models, and historic exhibits, with guided Kannada tours available throughout the day.
